This is my 25th Friday post in a row. There will be no album review this week for a couple of reasons:
- I have several new CDs, but have not listened to any of them enough to have an opinion of any of them yet.
- It is sort of a lot of work for me and I think there are only somewhere around three people that read what I write and listen to the songs. (I’m not trying to sound bitter, but I think it is the truth.)
Therefore, I may not do that anymore. But maybe.
Something I am looking forward to (almost obsessively) is that I have ordered the stereo box set of The Beatles remastered albums. Way back on September 14th… but it isn’t going to ship for another week and a half.
Just look at that stupid thing over there. I can’t even stand the wait.
I have been listening to The Beatles a lot lately. They are the best band evar. I love Radiohead but sorry Radiohead, The Beatles are the best.
When I get the set, I might revisit all the albums here and post a few songs that don’t get as much love as they should. If you remember back to my #10-1 list, “A Day in the Life” was my favorite Beatles song, and #3 overall. I don’t think that is correct. There is another that is better. Maybe I will tell you later. Maybe not!
One interesting think about The Beatles that I am a little embarrassed to admit: I have never owned or heard all the way through: Please Please Me, With The Beatles, A Hard Day’s Night, Beatles For Sale. I have heard the majority of the songs before, but really never got into the early work pre-Rubber Soul. Of course everyone knows that everything after that is the best, but I suppose it is possible that the early stuff is the best also. We’ll find out soon enough!
I might come back to new albums periodically, there are a few that I have that are good and deserved to be heard. (Speaking of that, has anyone heard the new Muse?)
Here is a song from an album that is ok, but I don’t know how much I like it yet. But this song – wow.
If that song was around when I was in high school and college, it would have been my theme song. People would have thought of me every time they heard it. The video is good, too. If you like it, go here to download the song. For free! It is best loud when you can really feel the drums and bass.
The song right after that on the album has the lyric, “If you really love him, tell me that you love him again.”
When I heard that I was like, “Wha? The ‘Dominos’ dudes are singing this sissy crap after talking so much about chicks? Whatever, dudes.” A little disappointing.
See you next week. Or not! I’m tired!

I will have you know that I read your reviews and listen to your songs every week… I’m just a slacker at commenting! Sorry, Bro-ski!
I agree with you about The Beatles… Isaac and I have been listening to them a lot lately and I’m still surprised by them sometimes.
Hope you have a good weekend… and get rested up!
My advice: you should write because you enjoy it and not because you think an audience is or isn’t there. =) Except when it comes to Muse, you should never write about that.
I’m a little surprised this is number 25! You’ve written a lot of quality material in the last 6 months. The list was/is epic.
I always listen. always.
oh and btw, dominos will be in my head all day.
I ALWAYS read but don’t always listen, at least not right away – but only because most of the time I read this from my phone while taking a coffe (ok, Pepsi) break @ work :) You’ve definitely gotten me interested in different music. I’ve been on a classic rock kick way too long.
i too always read (usually at work) but listening? okay, okay i’m guilty, don’t always listen. but it’s not out of disinterest…i swear!
I’m always in the mix too! I like that you are exposing me to music that I probably would not come across otherwise, so I hope you do continue writing the reviews…or at least some suggested listening based on what you are currently jamming to. I have not heard the new Muse yet, but iTunes here I come thanks to you! What’s up with all the Muse hate in the world? Jessie? Pitchfork? Muse are not transcendent, but they do ROCK!
Oh, and good luck with the new Beatles stuff when it finally arrives!
SPIIIIIVEY!!!!
i’ve never, ever liked muse. ick. if that’s rock, i want none of it. i don’t like dude’s vocal stylings. eeennoying. state fair band. sorry.
Jessie – Honestly, I can see that. For some reason I like them though. Oh, the mysteries of the world!
Josh, I too ready your posts and have listened to a lot of the music. You have exposed me to music I never, ever would have listened to otherwise. I always listened to rock until Rap got heavy back in ’93. The plant I was working for announced it was closing in December. As I was traveling to and fro to interviews, I discovered country music and that I actually liked it. The NEW country music that is…anyway, I’ve been a listener every since. I personally find it offensive to listen to “Classic” anything that I listened to when it was new at some point in my life. It makes me feel old and I’m not!
I do enjoy your posts!
