Who hid the remote?

Friday evening I was getting supper ready (don’t be impressed, it was frozen pizza and breadsticks) and I turned the tv on and played a recorded episode of SpongeBob Squarepants, hoping the boys would get sucked in for a few minutes.  It didn’t work.  Josh was late getting home from an all-day training session so the little boys and I went ahead and ate without him.  Afterwards, I went to change the channel and I couldn’t find the remote anywhere.

It was maddening!  I knew I had just had it by the couch in the living room, and then I couldn’t find it.  I looked in every nook and cranny of the living room, then expanded my search room-by-room until the whole house was searched twice.  Nothing.

I enlisted the help of Josh when he got home along with the boys, but we all came up empty.

I was already tired from a long day and long week so I just decided after the kids went to bed that we would watch something from Netflix because we had the PS3 remote handy.  I figured the remote for the satellite dish would turn up eventually.

The next morning the remote fairy had NOT visited.  Bummer.  I mean, we were approaching noon and still didn’t have it.  What were we gonna do?  Deep breaths, right guys? And then, as I was putting dishes away in the kitchen, I saw Jace take a small ball and put it into a cabinet.  I thought, maybe just maybe…

But when I opened the cabinet, I didn’t see anything at first… I’d checked there once before anyway.

But then, I thought that the big Tide box would make a good hiding spot for lots of things… and sure enough:

I found it!

Jace, who was right next to me when I discovered it, looked pretty proud of himself.

Well, at least I’ll know the first place to look if something else goes missing!  I’m not exactly ready to file this one under “The Naughty Files”… for now it’s pretty cute.

BTW, I see the last entry in The Naughty Files was August of last year?  Woo hoo!  That’s cause for celebration!  Now, I won’t guarantee that there haven’t been any incidents that wouldn’t qualify, but none have been so outlandish that I was forced to record it for posterity.  Hey, it’s something!

Have a great week, friends!
