Jace is 12 months

It’s hard to believe that we are celebrating the 12 month anniversary of Jace’s birth today.  Otherwise known as a… well, you know what it is.  It’s his first… don’t make me write it.

Jace is a dream.  He’s been such an unbelievably good baby.  He is so mild-mannered, easy-going, HAPPY.  I love him more and more each day.

Here is a video clip I’d like to share.  I started recording all three of the boys without them knowing I was watching or recording them (they catch on eventually in the video).  I’m giggling like an idiot because I think everything is 100x funnier when I’m supposed to be quiet (undetected) and because I was thinking ahead to sharing it on this blog and how funny and mildly inappropriate their rough play is.  But they are boys, right?  I’m not supposed to freak out that they are very physical and do very weird things?  Let’s just treat that as a rhetorical question.

And maybe that clip does a better job of explaining why Jace is so easy going better than my words can.  He’s just one of the guys.  He goes along with the flow.  He puts up with a lot.  He doesn’t freak out.  He’s fun and up for anything.

Jace, your first year has been 100% my pleasure, my dear.  Happy FIRST BIRTHDAY, son!  I love you.

I’m sorry but I couldn’t watch this whole thing.

Happy Birthday Jace Will (get a better name when he grows up) Zeigler! i think that is a jamie-ism. Jessie and Josh you have done a stand up job as parents, so it is not a surprise that this one is just as great. Plus, after the first two sweeites you deserve one child that is laid back, go with the flow, let is his hair down (when he gets it) kind of kid.

I just hope and pray that Jace makes it to his 2nd birthday :). He sure seemed to be taking in all uncomplaining. He doesn’t struggle, that is probably a plus. A sweet little guy, give him a happy birthday kiss from his Gram.

I am really, really scared for Jace now! C’mon Jessie, the boys should not get away with that should they? I thought at one point Jude was going to break his leg.

    • Maybe I’m just used to seeing how much physical interaction the older boys have with each other and with Jace. Also, Jace has never been hurt when they “horse around” like that. I know when to step in if they look like they are getting carried away or if Jace doesn’t like something, he’ll let us know. For the most part, Jace eagerly awaits contact of any kind with his big brothers and even squeals with delight when they pay attention to him. I wanted to get some video of this to be able to show them later what early playing was like.

Brought back memories of a trip to the doctor. Thankfully Ruth’s wrist was not broken, only sprained, when Mark pulled Ruth over the back of the sofa. Arm had to be in a sling for awhile. Thankfully the doctor bill was very small too. Mark had to learn NOT to pull and push on his little sister’s limbs so hard. They do break!!!
