Last Saturday, our town held a book festival. We participated by going to the public library for a children’s book-making activity.
Jace was a cheerful observer. This isn’t a great shot of Josh’s shirt, but it’s the one we picked up at our Lost finale party in Kansas City last month. Let me tell you, it has been quite the conversation piece. Case in point: while we were at the library, Josh felt a hand on one of his shoulders. He turned to see a grown man in a cape asking him what he thought of the ending. Really!
But let me tell you more about this man in the cape: it was Dan FREAKIN’ Wardell!
Truth be told, that was our original reason for visiting the library. If you don’t know who Dan Wardell is: you better ask somebody. Ok, never mind, I’ll tell you: he’s the on-air personality for Iowa Public Television’s children’s programming. He was great! The kids loved it and Josh & I did, too. Good times.
Dan is a Lost fan. He also urged us to watch Battlestar Galactica. We have been planning to watch Galactica for quite some time; we’ll get to it eventually, I’m sure.
The celebrity posed for pictures with Jude & Jett, but my camera malfunctioned and the two pictures I snapped were super blurry. Sorry kids!
Saturday late-afternoon we headed to my parents’ house to stay overnight. We had a great time there.
Sunday we had a cookout and then Josh & I took the older boys to Toy Story 3. We all liked the movie. Jude said that his favorite part was when the toys talked.

Sounds like good times and a great weekend! I think you have painted a smile on Jace’s face – I don’t think I ever see a picture of him without that huge smile!
Missed seeing you guys – The Eekhoff’s just had me totally worn out! And I thought Sunday night might not be the best time for everyone to meet either. We are trying to plan a sister’s weekend for October and I PROMISE we’ll see you then!
