We took our house off the market this week.
It was just too stressful, the multiple offers and what-not.
I wish.
No, we’ve had a change of plans. Josh is on the hunt for a new job. Not just a new job, but a career change. And since we don’t know where or when he’ll begin a new job, we thought we’d sit tight here in this house until after said change has taken place. It only seems reasonable.
It’s ok, his boss knows about it. When the time comes, that’s going to be the toughest thing for Josh to leave, his boss and most of his coworkers. He loves those guys in the most tough, masculine, car-guy way possible.
I’m not sad, don’t worry about me. It means more to me for Josh to do what he wants to do than getting a bigger house. Much more. Like 3954x more. Not moving right now also takes the pressure off, oh, I don’t know… not having a place to live. There aren’t any houses we’re interested in on the market currently.
Right before we took our house off the market, we did look at a house that if we had bought it – wouldn’t have increased our mortgage payment. It was a hulk of a house, but old and batty. A vacant foreclosure.
Before we went in, our realtor – who had walked though earlier in the day – warned us that he thought he saw a dead bat in the kitchen sink.
Eeeek! Or more like squeeeeek! Because we found not only one bat, but two bats in the kitchen sink and one of them was still alive. Alive and sick/injured. Not flying around, just making noises every once in awhile. I was not even going to continue going through the house, but the guys put something over the top of it to keep it in the sink. *shudder*
And as we were looking around the upstairs, there was another dead bat in the bathroom sink.
Sold! (on staying in our house)
Bat issues aside, the house would have required a ton of work. A literal ton. Josh doesn’t fancy himself a fix-it guy, so it’s just not a match. Not going to happen. We’re just not into you, house.
What we are into is taking things one step at a time and listing our house again when the time is right and our plans are more clear. Thanks anyway, tax credit. We thought we could have used you to sell this house and buy a new one, but we’ll have to do without.

How exciting! I’m sure this change of career decision was a long time coming and not an easy one to make. Can’t wait to hear the updates.
