It begins with a fitness update

I can’t believe it’s been a month since I’ve last written about my fitness journey.  I’m sure it’s been mostly because I’ve been a spaz lately when it comes to updating the blog.

I’m still working out, usually 5 times a week, some of that is weight training and some of that is running.  I rarely do both on the same day.

The good news is that I’ve lost a total of 20 pounds, 18 inches since beginning in November.  I’m six pounds away from my goal, but that goal is going to be tough to reach, man – mostly because I’ve been stuck on the same STINKING, PUTRID, BAD WORD number for 3 weeks solid.  And that was the bad news.  Might have to go back to tracking my food for awhile, but I really, really don’t want to do that.  I like not watching and/or caring what I eat.

I was lamenting this plateau to my trainer and she suggested we take an updated body fat composition test.  I had lost another 2% in body fat since last month which especially surprised me because it had taken me FOUR months to lose 3%.  So, even though the scale isn’t reflecting the work I’ve put in, I’m still changing my body… for the better.  That said, I’d still like to meet my goal weight.  I have about a month to do it by my goal date (birthday)… so looks like it’s not going to happen.  Oh sorry!  I’m supposed to be positive!  “DON’T TELL ME WHAT I CAN’T DO!” – John Locke

It’s not like my old jeans are falling off me – not by any means – but I did want to buy better fitting jeans, so I took Abby’s advice and headed to a certain Goodwill store in Des Moines.  B-I-N-G-O!  Did I simply find the first pair of jeans that I thought would work and hurry head-down to the register?  Oh no.  I tried them on in the store in a fitting room without a lock.  That’s right… you heard me.  I’m feeling pretty proud of myself.  I ended up with THREE new pairs of jeans… for about $15.  For not being much of a shopper, I did get a bit of a rush.  Shhh… don’t tell anyone.  I’ve worked hard all my life to maintain a reputation for my dislike of shopping.

By the way – too funny not to mention – it being Goodwill and all, there were quite a few outdated styles and brands of jeans there.  I had a few chuckles and junior-high flashbacks.  Namely Z. Cavaricci.  Lawman.  Paris Sport Club.  I think I saw all but Guess? jeans.  It’s funny how very cool and very important brand named clothing was back then.  Silly.
