Policy

Did you know that the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is regulating blogs?  Well, they are.

Don’t worry, I’m not scared.  I have nothing to hide.  Really.

Since we have done a few giveaways (mostly gift cards) in the past and will most likely do them again in the future, I just wanted you to know how and why they’re done.

So, here’s our “policy” at Nothing Gets Crossed Out (sounds official, right?):

Ready?

We buy the stuff that we giveaway.  Pure and simple.  And the reason we occasionally do giveaways is because we think they are fun to do.  It’s a way to give back to you guys who come and read and comment and want to be our friends.  We’re not above bribing you to like us.

No company or person gives us stuff for free to review.  If we ever do review or recommend a product (like Macaroni Cheese Popcorn Topping) or anything of the sort, it’s because we like it.  Easy enough?

If (Lord, help us) some person or company were to ever care enough about what we think to review his/her/its product, we’d disclose that info.  I can’t believe I’m actually writing this.

Moving along…

We do, however, receive small amounts of compensation if a Google ad is clicked on our site.  And we do receive a very small percentage of anything you order from Amazon.com if you click through one of the Amazon banners or links on our site to do your shopping (even if you don’t buy the linked item).  For example, if you were to click the Amazon.com Beatles box set link that’s on our music page currently and once you’re on the Amazon site you decide not to buy the box set but buy a book instead, we’d receive a small percentage of that book sale.  Should have told you this before you did all your Christmas shopping, right?!

Bottom line, we don’t blog for money.  We blog because we enjoy sharing our lives and being connected with you.
