Exercise update

It’s time to update.  I’m thinking it’d prolly be good for me to make this a weekly feature to keep me accountable.  Prolly.

I’m feeling great.  Really and truly.  I’m noticing the jeans fitting just a smidge better.  I’m good with my increased energy level – provided of course that I get to bed at a decent time.  I’m a sucker for staying up late and enjoying the quiet time when every other precious little head in this house is asleep.

My official first weigh-in was November 10th, and since then I’ve lost 7 pounds.  It’s feels slow sometimes, but that’s how it should be done, so overall I’m very happy with my progress.  Now what is really terrible is that I weigh myself almost every day.  I don’t have a scale at home, which is a good thing, but it’s an almost irresistible urge when I’m at the gym to just take a peek.  If I could stick to weighing myself weekly, I’d be better off, I think.

I’ve been working out 6 times a week still, except last week – I only got 4 workouts in over Thanksgiving.  But, I didn’t overeat at my three Thanksgiving feasts, so that was a win, and the scale and I are still mostly friends.

Nutritionally, I still have a lot to learn.  I’m really not very educated on this front, but I am learning.  The good news is that I like the taste of lots of nutritious foods… I just also happen to like a lot of chocolate tomfoolery, too.

But get this – I’m supposed to be getting 2900 calories per day!  That’s crazy talk, man!  Based on my current weight, my current activity level and my current nursing status (exclusively breastfeeding), I’m supposed to be putting up those big numbers!  I’m finding it difficult, however, to crack the 2,000 mark.  It’s especially difficult to consume that many calories of healthy food.

So that’s my update: 7 pounds down, 19 to go.

Oh, and can I just ask: who seriously drinks 8 glasses of water per day?  Crazy people, that’s who!  I know it can be done, I’ve done it, but it’s so difficult for me to do consistently.  I’m walking around with slosh-belly, people.  Anyone have tips?

Last thing:  Would anyone out there care to join me?  I know some of you are busting it right now, comment here and let me know how you’re doing.  Are any of you currently working toward a goal?  Fitness-wise, weight-wise, size-wise?  If so, post your goals here in the comments, I dare ya.  You can be deliciously cryptic like me… for example, not giving away my actual weight, heh heh, did you notice that?  Cute, huh?

Oops. You accidentally wrote “prolly” twice. I know you didn’t mean to, becasue people who do that are the worst.

Yay Jessie! Great job! 7 lb is awesome – the dietician at the Y says slower is better when it comes to weight loss because then we know the body is working off the fat. I too am on a quest for better fitness… I have been jogging consistently since May (with a hiatus the month of September due to surgery); but I have a long way to go when it comes to getting more fit. I really want to lower my body fat and have a lot of lean, mean muscle; so that’s what I’m really working toward. Just yesterday I began lifting weights again so that feels great.

Good luck with everything and way to stick with it! :)

i am in. I just got back from a vacation that was delicious! I just started all over on Monday. new work out, new diet, new goal. I am going to Hawaii in 84 days (also my birthday is in 79 days just in case someone forgets). i would like to loose 20 pounds. I have lost 2.3 pounds (yes the .3 is necessary it all counts) this week just by changing the diet and uping the workouts. i have been using sparkpeople again for useful tips and encouragement.

    Keep it up Star!!

    • Thanks Leah! I’m so glad to know you’re doing this thang with me! Although – holy crap – I wish I had a Hawaiian vacation waiting at the end of my goal! Ha ha… no such luck. You’ll have to keep me (us) updated. You’ve got a great start with the 2.3! Here we go!

    Way to go!!

I’ll totally put myself out there…but starting Monday. :) My next goal is to start exercising. I lost my weight mostly through diet, which pretty sadly shows how poorly I was eating. Yikes. I have Jillian’s *The Shred*. It’s a killer. And I’m gonna do it!

Exercising 6 days a week is pretty awesome. Keep up the good work!

Great job! I am also on the quest to lose post-baby weight. Yikes. I am currently below pre-Liam weight (which wasn’t too difficult since he was conceived 6 months after Mayah was born) but have another ten to go to be pre-Judah/wedding weight, which is my goal. I like to think of my weight loss in terms of how much I have lost total, and by that I mean from the time Liam was born until now. And yes, I am counting the 9 pounds of Liam in that…back off…it makes me feel better. So, I have lost forty pounds total. Doesn’t that look impressive?
I am jealous of you and your working-out opportunities. With Will coaching wrestling, I haven’t worked out in two weeks. I am, however, drinking the 64 oz of water per day…shouldn’t that make me weigh more? :)
