Over the weekend my Great-Grandpa Clarence celebrated his 99th birthday. Isn’t that somethin’?! It reminded me that I’ve never shared a few remarkable and perhaps surprising family facts with you here on the public forum that is my blog.
* When Jude was born 4 1/2 years ago, he had fifteen natural and living grandparents:
My parents: Jamie & Denise (2)
Josh’s parents: Doug & Jan (4)
My grandparents: Bob & Bonnie, Chuck & Bev (8)
Josh’s grandparents: Lyle & Dawn, Ada (11)
My great-grandparents: Estelle, Clarence, Doris (14)
Josh’s great-grandparent: Jennie (15)
* That amounts to five living generations, four different ways.
* My great-grandma Estelle passed away months before her 104th birthday, I was pregnant with Jett. So when Jett was born, he had fourteen natural and living grandparents.
* And we’ve lost two more wonderful women: Ada and Jennie, in the last few years, so Jace was born with twelve natural and living grandparents, which I believe is the number I had when I was born, but mom – you may want to fact check me on that.
We are rich in the grandparent department and we love you all!

Yes, that’s right – you had 12 grandparents when you were born.
That is amazing and a bit absurd. My children have four natural and living grandparents: my mom and dad and Will’s mom and dad. You are blessed.
What a blessing!! My son had 5 when he was born, and my daughter had 4!! Think of all those great age genes you are passing on to your children! Cherish all those memories you will be making in the years to come…
That is awesome! I hope you take picures all the time. All I ever had was grandparents. They were all gone before I was thru college.
