My mom & dad came for a visit Sunday afternoon to see their grandkids. Instead of just sitting around and looking at each other, the guys decided to make a trip into Des Moines. Josh had been wanting The Beatles Rock Band for awhile and because he gets whatever he wants, they tracked it down at Best Buy and brought it home. How could I tell the birthday boy no? They unpacked the gear and started jammin’ right away.
Here’s Dylan playing a solo… with his chin. But not really.
Mom got into the fun trying the drums out.
Jude’s playing frontman here. The boys took turns and Jett had the microphone for quite a few numbers, too. “I am the Walrus” is their song for some reason. It was their song before Rock Band even made its way into our house (and hearts). Whenever they hear it played or even see the Magical Mystery Tour album artwork, they say for example: “That’s our song, right Jude?” “Yep, that’s our song, Jett.” Surprisingly, when Jett sang “I am the Walrus” he got 85% correct based on the stats after the song finished, but I think that was a pretty generous rating.
Jett and my dad on the drums. Jett was wearing underwear, promise, you just can’t see it here or in the photo above. Nobody sleeps naked in this house! Any guesses what that line is from?
Both of the boys were up before 6 am Monday morning wanting to play Rock Band, but Josh and I decided that it is going to be a game they play only when Daddy is home. All of the equipment will be stored out of reach and sight during the day. It was nice using the new game as leverage during the day. I posted three warning boxes on the refrigerator for each boy and if they reached three warnings, they were to be ineligible to play Rock Band for the whole night after Josh got home. Wouldn’t you know each of them ended the day with two boxes checked? Always pushing the boundaries, I guess. All I had to say was “Rock Band” throughout the day and my every wish was their command. I could get used to this!

Also, when Jett got his high rating singing, I think he was laughing hysterically most of the song.
Somehow, I just knew you were going to end up with Rock Band in your house… it was only a matter of time!
