Jett’s first day of preschool

No more waiting in the wings for this guy!  After a whole year of tagging along as we dropped Jude off and picked him up from preschool, Jett finally had his turn today.  He was so excited to go!

We walked again today to get there and when we arrived Jett immediately started looking for his backpack/coat hook.  He found it, too, all by himself.  He’d been talking about his own hook that would say “J-E-T-T”.   He eagerly hung up his backpack and ran back to the classroom.  He remembered right where his mailbox was from when we’d visited for open house.

I’d forgotten to have Jett go to the restroom before we left our house, so we took care of that business next.  In case you are wondering, he still isn’t completely potty trained.  For a week or more, we’ve been going by the potty timer.  I set the microwave timer at 90-minute increments.  When the timer sounds, I lift Jett up to reach the timer and he shuts it off by himself.  Then he goes to the bathroom.  When I remember to set the timer, we’re almost always successful.  He won’t go on his own if I don’t remind him and he still has #2 accidents, but it’s progress… I think.  I’ve been communicating with his teacher about the issue and she’s comfortable having him there even though he’s not 100%.  If he regresses and has a difficult time staying dry at preschool, we’ll have to pull him out for a time.

Back to preschool: we finished up in the bathroom and Jett ran back to the classroom exclaiming that he was going to do a puzzle.  He went right to where the puzzles were located and dug in.  I told him that Jude, Jace, and I were leaving; he didn’t mind in the slightest.  Jude, however, didn’t want to leave.  He wanted to be at preschool with Jett.  I told Jude that he had to take turns at preschool and yesterday he had a turn.  As we were walking out of the classroom and down the hall, Jude turned around and yelled out, “I love you, Jett!” as if it was the last time they would ever see each other.  Puh-lease!  And people say girls are dramatic!  It was really cute.

Later, when we came to pick Jett up after preschool, I got to see his proud little face as he walked in-line out of the classroom.  He was *beaming* and excitedly handed me a paper.  It was just a note from the teacher, it wasn’t a craft or anything he had done, but it was his preschool note and he was proud.  I helped him put it in his backpack and off we went.  On the way out, the teacher said he did great.

The Zeiglers are two-for-two at preschool for the week!  Hooray!

And then when we got home I hugged and kissed the tar out of him.  It was such a great morning!  I showed Jett the pictures I took of Jude yesterday after preschool holding up a 4 and a thumbs-up, and Jett wanted to do the same.  But his coordination… well, it wasn’t.  At least he’s got a pretty smile!
