Last week we were running pretty low on groceries. Really, since Jace has been born, I haven’t been cooking… at all. Unless you count making BLTs because I’ve done plenty of that. For weeks and weeks we had meals provided by our wonderful church family and friends. And it ruined me. It spoiled me. I loved it. Pre-baby I was looking forward to receiving meals, but I had no idea how much of a help it would really be. I didn’t have to do any planning, grocery shopping, cooking. It was awesome. And I’ve been pretending meals would appear out of thin air ever since, but they haven’t.
It was only the middle of last week that I made myself sit down and write out a meal plan for the next week or so and made a corresponding grocery list. Josh, being the great help that he is, picked up groceries after work Thursday night.
Yes, bananas appeared on that grocery list. It had been a really, really – apparently too long – of a time since we had bananas in the house. And as you can see, Friday morning while I was in the shower, my kids discovered them quickly and went all ape-y over them.
Must’ve been jonesing for some potassium.

Wowzer. At least bananas are good for you. And I don’t think they have quite the effect that prunes do. ;) Did it get mushed in your carpet?
well, at least they got their potassium! the little “monkeys!”
Ha! I’m with you on the grocery thing. Liam is already five months old, which means it has been five months since our home has been stocked. It is always a great tragedy when Judah notices the banana holder is empty. He tells every one we see (at the park, at church..strangers included), “My family is out of bananas!!” Get used to it, buddy, Mama is in a lazy funk.
Funny picture! What little monkeys!
