Update

Well, it looks like I’m down with the same stomach bug that Jude and Josh had last week.  I couldn’t even get out of bed this morning and have been throwing up all day.  (FYI, I wrote that Back to “normal” post this weekend – ha!  Seems funny now….)  It’s complicated, you know?  I know some women get flu-like symptoms at the on-set of labor, but since the boys had this flu stuff last week, it’s difficult to know what’s happening to this body of mine.

I called the midwives this afternoon and they thought it sounded more like the flu since I haven’t been having a sore back or other labor signs.  As the afternoon has worn on, I have been feeling more contractions – but that’s also typical with being dehydrated.  The contractions are not progressing but they are uncomfortable.  If I’m still unable to keep anything down by tomorrow, I’m supposed to go in for iv fluids.

Even though I don’t know what God’s plan is right now, I’m going to trust that this will all work out.  It was great timing that Josh had a regularly scheduled day off today.  And he had such a smooth day with them.  Also, my mom & dad volunteered to take the boys overnight and for the day tomorrow until this blows over.  Being sick without them around is so much better and easier than being sick with them here.  There are lots of little things in this whole mess for which to be thankful.

    Jessie,
Please be careful….know a very pregnant gal with the flu who did get dehydrated and that resulted in lots of stress on the baby. I had the flu this spring….I just can’t imagine throwing up being pregnant!!!…..I got medication for Ivan when he got it because he was throwing up in the snow banks..cause baby calves were dying in the snow and Mark had a broken ankle and it was horrible for him. It did stop him from throwing up but I imagine you are pregnant and that medication isn’t probably good for your little one. We will pray! Aunt Lois

I can’t believe you’re sick with the flu right now!! Hey – it will make your labor story even more intense when you’re telling other mom’s about it in the years to come. Feelin’ for ya…each day after the due date is so tough. I can’t imagine it with the flu!! You know what?!?! Grundy Center has a tropical sno!!
