Baby shower

I was fortunate enough to have a baby shower thrown in my honor last Saturday.

A tradition at our church is that the first baby born to a couple “in the church” gets a baby shower.  We started attending New Hope when Jett was about 5 months old, therefore no babies of mine have been born while we’ve attended.

I got to choose the date and everyone else took care of the details!  All I had to do was show up.  It was a pool-side party and lots of fun, albeit HOT!  Even by 10 am, it was sweltering, but I lucked out and was in a nice shaded spot.  Opening gifts is hard work, after all!

What made the shower even more special is that I was able to invite my own family members, too.  They’d never before been able to attend a shower for me.  When I was pregnant with Jude, some family members were going to give me a baby shower.  I thought it would be better to have one after the baby was born since we didn’t know he was going to be a boy.  But then, I was sick with gallbladder attacks and had to have my gallbladder removed 2 months after having Jude.  Nothing ever materialized with the shower.  It was great to have them there – along with my church family – to celebrate this baby.

In the picture above: my mother-in-law Jan, my mom Denise, my grandma-in-law Dawn, me, and my grandma Bonnie.  My sister Emily is on the end (you can see her arm).  My grandma Bev was unable to come because she’d just had a gas bubble put in her eye for a retina tear.  She’s been having to recover FACE-DOWN for 90% of the time this whole week.  Starting tomorrow, she only has to be face-down for 70% of the time.  I do not envy her right now.  We missed her.

Love the shirt, Alisa.  I’m hanging ten (if you didn’t know)!

Love the little shoes, too!

After the hard work was done, Emily, Mom and I cooled our feet in the pool.

Here are some other guests chillin’ by the water.

Thanks to everyone who made this special morning possible!  You can’t believe how much I appreciate it.

Amanda, thanks for taking pictures for me – every one of them turned out great!  I’m so glad you were able to stay. :)
