Not a big update, an update on the big tonsils. Oh, never mind – that’s not important.
Jett’s ENT appointment yesterday went well. I think. Ultimately, we’re waiting six months to reassess the situation. Unless a problem develops in the meanwhile, like an infection, then we’ll consider scheduling a tonsillectomy sooner.
The doctor said he could make a case either way for removing them or not removing them and it was really up to us. Since Jett’s always been a healthy kid, virtually no ear or other infections, it wasn’t a clear-cut, automatic choice. It’s pretty much what we were thinking before the appointment.
The ENT doc did say that strep and tonsillitis get to be very common among the 3 – 12 year age group, so it’s possible that Jett’s problems could be just beginning. But we’re not going to assume that will be the case – again, that’s why we’re comfortable playing the wait-and-see card.
So, there you have it. The good thing is that he won’t go under the knife, yet. The bad thing is he might have to suffer infections before he gets them out and his other symptoms won’t improve in the meanwhile.
I have a feeling we’ll know if and when the time is right.

I would have made the same decision as you did. Wait and see.
