We had our other ultrasound this morning and found out we’re having another boy! Here’s a picture:
What you’re looking at is two legs, and in between… well, you do the math! :)
I’m still without a scanner, so here is another printout that I snapped with my camera:
More importantly than gender, we found that baby boy’s measurements are all on track and that everything anatomically looks great. The student technician and the overseeing technician kept commenting on what a pretty scan it was throughout the session. I don’t know if it was just very clear (not cloudy?) or that the baby was cooperating, but it made me feel really good. I was on the verge of saying, “Well heck, if it’s such a pretty scan I’ll come back whenever you want for students to practice on me!” But I thought that might have been too much, so I just said thanks. It’s certainly not my doing… almost like taking credit for the weather, really.
Back to the measurements – all signs pointed to the baby being approximately 1 pound and measuring just over 21 weeks. According to my gestational dates, I’m in my 20th week. They made it sound like it was too little of a difference to change the due date, so that’s still at August 6th.
We’re so excited to have another boy! Even though admittedly I was hoping for a girl, I’m in such familiar territory now that it seems like this little boy will fit right into this rambunctious household. That, and I’ve always just seen myself as a mom to boys. What can I say, it’s my calling!
It just makes me smile to think there’s another little guy on the way. I think I’ve mentioned before how many boys there are in our tightly knit group of church friends. And I’m not kidding: including my friend Nichole who is due to have her first child (a boy, of course) in May, this boy that I’m carrying will be number 15! In the last 4 1/2 years, that’s 15 boys to one girl (shout out to Gabs!). And she was born almost 3 1/2 years ago! That just makes it all the more incredible to me.
And yes, we’ll most likely pick another “J” name, but at this point I have no idea what that will be. Suggestions welcome! It took us up to the last day or two of pregnancy to decide on the other kids’ names, and I’m expecting this time around to be the same. Josh said he’ll take care of it this time since Jett was more my doing… I had to talk him into that one. I’d still like to have veto power, if you know what I mean.

- Got a name, does he?
- So far we just been usin’ Junior.
- We call him Junior.
- You mean JR, just like the TV show? That’s good!
- ”Welcome home, son.” Where’s he been?
Hilarity ensues…
Congratulations to you! (I met you at the quilt retreat last year….I’m Jenni’s sister from Colorado.) I love reading your blog, as I am the mother of an active, spirited boy as well! Your stories about your boys are refreshingly honest and real.
Hmmmm…. “J” names. I asked my 4 year old son his top picks for a boy with the letter J. Here goes…
Justin
John
Jacob
Jason
Jake
Jackson
AND, he happens to like the name Jupiter. He’s studying outer space at preschool. I guess if a tennis player can be called Venus anything’s possible… Anywhoooo, that’s a big NO on that name I’m sure! :o)
You’re pregnant?!
Dion Rifkin?
Smiles. :)
That’s so exciting! You are a great boy mom, I think you’re right it’s your calling.
And I would like to offer my name consultation services again if Josh needs help. Of course I work only for chips and salsa. Ahhh memories!!!
You’re right Jessie – you make a good boy’s mom! How about Jack, Jade, Jake, Joe or Jon (John)? They all seem to go with your one syllable J boy’s names. Congratulations again! Hope you’re feeling well!!
I like the name Jarret…am still thinking…
MY THREE SONS!! Loved that show in the good ol’ days. How exciting to see that ultrasound of your precious baby boy. Someday the young girls will all swoon over those handsome Zeigler boys!! Think of how much food those boys will consume when they are growing. Better buy some milk cows.
So excited for you guys.. three boys will be a lot of fun!! we have friends that have three boys, and are all fairly close in age. the three of them shared a room til the oldest was 12 or so.. they didn’t want their own rooms, they liked being with their brothers! so just put them all in the same room after the baby is out of the crib, and you can turn that room back into your quilting room and have your girlie space back!! :) what about the name Jed? (that is the name of one of the three boys and this boy would actually fit into your family.. dark hair, dark eyes, and looks a lot like your other boys!!) the Zeigler boys is what they will forever be called, so doesn’t really matter what their first names are.. just ask my husband!! :)
you’re right. no mistake. that there’s a boy!! yeah!
Hey Jessie, congrats, you will be a great Mom to 3 boys, awesome. God is good isn’t He? His plan is always the best plan. OK, names, I’m not good with boys, do you still want one syllable like Jude and Jett? I’m thinking…….I have no idea, I’ll have to think on that one. I’ve been around so many kids over the years, I’m trying to think of some names and I’m blank on the J ones. I’m sure you will come up with a great name. Again, congrats on the healthy boy!!
j names, mmmmmm lets see, o maybe JAMIE or how bout JAMIE. then again, it could be JAMIE. or perhaps JAMIE
Ok, Jessie, I’ve thought about it, how about Jay, Jake (not jacob), Jack, (I know there is already one in the church, but its cute) just thinking of one syllable ones that sound good with Jude and Jett. I googled boy J names, but there were some strange ones. I’ll keep thinking.
OK, thought of another one, Jordan. Not my fave, but kinda cute. I’m not sure how you feel about a name that could be either boy or girl though, just another one I thought of.
Congrats!
Jace, Jagger, Jonah, Jonas, and of course Julian :)
How about Joe?
