Here is room redo #1, formerly my sewing room. Sniffe, sniffle.
Very… blue, huh? Well, it was before. Now, it’s way more fitting for a boys room. My mom volunteered to buy the kids new sheets/blankets and they got to choose what they wanted. Jude picked Wall-e and Jett picked Transformers.
The pictures hanging above their beds are the ones my sister Emily painted for them. Oh, how they love those paintings! Except…
When it is dark, we discovered that Jett is COMPLETELY freaked out by the painting of himself. It must be the shadows, because he’ll bawl/scream when he looks at it without the lights being on. It has become the ritual the last several nights that we take the picture down and place it on the dresser until morning. Then, first thing the next morning, he gets the picture, looks at it, deems it not-scary and insists it goes back up on the wall.
Here is the other side of the room:
See how tight everything is? The door on the right side of the picture is swung wide open, the opening is on the other wall. The closet on the left is great. When it was my sewing room, Josh outfitted it with three additional wire shelves and I easily stored all my fabric there. It was perfect and it will be so useful now as their closet. As the boys’ clothes get bigger, the fewer items we’ll be able to fit in the dresser that they now share. The closet will be great overflow for clothes and other items that are better hidden.
Now, here’s the puzzle man:
Doing what he loves to do! I showed him this picture and he exclaimed, “It’s me and the states puzzle!”
Here’s something funny that happened on the way home from dropping Jude at preschool. Do you Moms out there know the PBS jingle with the fish that goes [sounds like] “glub, glub, glub, glub, doink! PBS kids!”? Well, I sing that glub, glub… part when I pour milk on their cereal and then they sing the rest of the jingle. Now, I know that’s not necessarily normal, but… back to the car ride. Jett’s request was that we sing that jingle but instead of PBS kids, inserting the presidents on – you guessed it – Mt. Rushmore.
So, on the way home we sang: “glub, glub, glub, glub, doink! Abraham Lincoln!” And then “glub, glub, glub, glub, doink! George Washington!” And on. Doesn’t quite have the same ring to it.
It occurred to me the other day that my boys think that those presidents are still alive. It’s going to be difficult breaking the news to them. For example, when we were at my mom’s surprise party, the gentleman working at the facility behind the counter had glasses and a mustache, so of course, Jett next to me, holding my hand, yelled loud enough for him to hear: “It’s Theodore Roosevelt!” I just laughed it off and explained to the kindly man that I was just sure it was because of his mustache and glasses. But truth be told, even his teeth looked like Teddy. Jett was right on that one.

Cute, fun, exciting, nesting!!! :)
You have a funny little life girl. I mean that in a fun way. Your stories on your boys crack me up. Its so funny that Jett is interested in presidents already. I see some historical vacations in your future. You should take him to West Branch to the Herbert Hoover library. Maybe not the most exciting thing in the world to do, but its something close that has to do with a president. If nothing else, it would be fun hearing him say “Herbert Hoover”,funny name!! I will keep my eyes out for presidential stuff, puzzles etc. at garage sales this spring!! Their room looks great! Changes are fun aren’t they?
oh by the way, that was barb in the last post, not allie
