I’m feeling great.  Thanks to those who’ve asked.  I am happy to report I began feeling the baby move last Wednesday.  I was sure I knew exactly what that feeling was, but I had to search for it online because I thought it was too early.  Experienced moms who know what they’re feeling often detect it earlier; 16 weeks was the typical time (according to the Internet) the first fluttering feelings are felt.  And I was just days away from starting the 16th week, so it confirmed my instinct.  I do love to feel that little one.  Every movement is like a gift.  So, when I’m getting the crap kicked out of me in the 9th month, remind me.

I’m writing to report on last weekend.  It was a long and productive weekend.  My mom & dad had the kids starting Friday afternoon until Sunday evening.  It was much needed and much appreciated considering the project we were undertaking.

We moved everything out of my sewing room.  EVERYTHING.  It was overwhelming, scary, sad, surprising.   We cleaned everything well: the carpet, the walls, the trim, repaired blemishes on the walls and retouched the paint.  And then we moved two twin beds and a dresser in to make it the boys’ new room.  And that’s all that fit.  We have three really cozy (read: small) bedrooms.

Then we did the same thing with the boys’ old room.  We moved in my essential sewing stuff, one crib and a dresser that we haven’t been able to use since moving into the house because we never had room for it.  It’s a piece that goes with our bedroom set that we received for a wedding gift and it’s lovely.  I’m so excited we get to enjoy it again after nearly 4 years.  The extra storage will be critical for my sanity.  One crib = nursery, right?

And then, to top it all off, we rearranged our living room.  We tore down the old entertainment center which we received free from neighbors as we were moving in.  It’s been very useful this whole time, but I was frankly sick of looking at it.  It was so huge that it took up nearly a whole wall and made our living room look and feel smaller than it is.  I found this smart looking media cabinet that is less than half the size and it looks so much better with our furniture.

I feel rejuvenated.  I’m surprised at how much better I feel.  I feel like we’re getting ready for the baby, have more storage space than before, things look new and different.  We can stay in this house for another 2 years and it will be fine.

Did I mention I threw a lot of stuff away?  A lot.  A lot.

Pictures to come.  I don’t have before pictures, unfortunately, but those of you who have been here before will be able to see the dramatic changes.  Or just changes.  Change is good.

  • Yay, nothing like a little spring cleaning to boost the mood. It is amazing the stuff you can collect, isn’t it? I’m glad you had the weekend w/o kids to rejuvenate your home and hopefully yourself. Hope you and Josh had some alone and fun time too. Have a good day and go out and breath in the fresh air and sunshine. Barb
