Josh and I felt like celebrities this weekend.
Josh has a favorite customer at work who just happens to review movies. When this customer came in last week, he and Josh were discussing what actors and which movies they thought deserved Oscar nominations. Josh had commented that we love movies, but rarely get out to the theater. His customer said that he’d have to bring Josh something when he was scheduled to come in Friday.
So, Friday morning, as promised, this customer came in with a sack of movies for us to borrow. They are known as "for your consideration" DVDs, studios send them to reviewers to be considered for certain awards or nominations. A few of them are still being shown in theaters, some of others have yet to come out on DVD.
This weekend we were able to watch two of the movies: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Changeling. We liked both. I had no idea what Changeling was about, but I enjoyed that very much. The title is misleading. We thought it sounded like a sci-fi movie, but it definitely wasn’t. I think I ended up liking it more than Benjamin Button. Both were entertaining.
Other movies we will get to watch this week from the comfort of our own home include, Frost/Nixon, Milk, and Burn after Reading (which has been released on DVD).
Nice, huh?

That’s a sweet gig.
What a neat gift – A friend of mine and her husband decided to take their three kids to the movies last weekend – Made the mistake of thinking that they’d eat after the movie, so didn’t feed the kids first – and of course the kids were begging for popcorn and pop – to make a long story short, they ended up spending close to $100 by the time they left the theatre! Sounds like much more fun to be able to watch it when you want – make your own snacks, no babysitter, etc. Glad you had a chance to do that!!!
