Sorry it’s been SO long since I’ve posted! I can explain! Well, not really, I’ve just been busy.
Friday the boys and I went into Des Moines for a lunch date with some friends that I used to work with. It was interesting to say the least! The boys were unbelievably naughty, running away from me at every chance they got. I was exhausted and embarrassed by the time we left. Hands down, the worst dining experience with them in a restaurant so far.
Saturday we spent the whole day at Josh’s parents house to celebrate Christmas and had a wonderful time. We had awesome food, opened presents, got to spend time with my nephew Jackson, who just turned 10 months and is walking! It was so cute to be able to see him wobbling around, determined to stand and walk on his own… what a cute kid.
Sunday we ventured out to church. It was freeeeeezing! Then in the evening we had our last Bible study over the book we’d been reading. It was such a good experience overall. The girls read a book called For Women Only. Some parts were better and more applicable than others, but on the whole I liked it. It opened my eyes to things I didn’t realize about how Josh feels and operates. I think that I understand him just a little better now, and that’s a great thing!
Today Josh didn’t have to work so we took the opportunity to open gifts – just us at our house. It was a great time. The boys didn’t get much: socks (he was thrilled!) and tractors for Jett. A digital camera (it was only $10!) and tractors for Jude. My love gave me a Bible with a new leather case and the movie Juno. I gave Josh an Okkervil River t-shirt and told him about the other gift I was going to make him. I was going to (and still will) print guitar tabs and chords to the songs he frequently looks up online and compile them into a 3-ring binder so they will be easily accessible, especially since he plays songs and sings to the boys every night before bed. The reason I didn’t get it done? Last week the boys broke my printer! This is the 2nd one they have destroyed within a year. Each time Jude (I think) ripped the encoding strip clean out of the printer, rendering it useless. I was so mad! The printer only cost $40, but still….
Then this afternoon we had an appointment with our Edward Jones guy about our investments. It was only an annual appointment to touch base, and guess what? Our mutual funds are in the crapper! But you knew that, right?
We’re looking forward to the rest of this week and Christmas with family!

Thanks Jess. My day is complete now. :) Merry Christmas!
