I had the best weekend with Josh.
He had to work Saturday, but afterwards we went to a concert in Omaha with his cousin and his cousin’s wife. We had such a wonderful time. Really.
The car ride went quickly, our hotel was very nice and comfortable (thanks, Priceline) and close to the concert venue. We walked around the Old Market in Omaha on a beautiful night. We found a great place to eat (M’s Pub). We ate at the corner of the bar, so we got seated right away, were able to talk with each other easily, had excellent sandwiches and service. Loved it!
The concert was at a place called The Slowdown. It looked fairly new. It was so clean and pleasant. Part of that had to do with the no-smoking ordinance, I’m sure. We were impressed.
We also met another cousin and her boyfriend and my sister and her boyfriend at the show.
The bands (Neva Dinova opened for Okkervil River) sounded great, great, great. We want more Okkervil River. Live. Again, we were totally blown away. We knew it would be good, but the show exceeded our expectations.
It was a great night.
We left Omaha around 10 am the next morning and had brunch in Council Bluffs. Even that was really good. And then home.
It was so nice to get away without the kids. I cannot stress that enough. Last week they dumped two nearly-full cereal boxes onto the carpet and two days later covered their nearly-naked bodies in Pam cooking spray. And those are only two things I can remember. The only memories I haven’t emotionally and mentally suppressed yet as a means of surviving another day. Ho hum.

Gosh, it was a great show. I had such a great time!
Sounds like a good weekend!!! Who’d you go with?
Josh’s cousin Aaron Zeigler and his wife Amy. Aaron’s sister Melissa and her boyfriend Travis. My sister Emily and her boyfriend Adrian. A couple other friends got tickets (Tyler & John), but decided not to go. :(
Children are awesome, but nothing beats some time away with just the hubster! So glad you guys had a refreshing weekend!
