  • Happy birthday to my best brother Jacob!  He’s a brilliant structural engineering student studying at ISU and he’s 22 today.  I love you.

  • Second day of preschool yesterday.  Jude handled it much better than his first time.  I got a little more insight into just how badly he behaved his first day.  Upon picking him up yesterday, the teacher admitted on the fit scale, last week’s fits were at a 10.  You know, the kicking and screaming on the floor type.  Nice.  I wanted to hide, but instead I just chuckled and apologized.  Today she said there were a still a few fits, but she estimated they were at a 3.  Ok, I can live with a 3 for now!  I can tell at home he’s becoming more aware of the tantrums.  I’ve started saying, "Ok, Jude, you can throw a fit, but you have to go into your room to do it… or you can continue eating, playing, walking, fill-in-the-blank with us."  It’s been effective for the time being.

  • I have a dentist appointment this afternoon for a cleaning.  I’ve been a bad girl and haven’t been flossing regularly the last, oh… 6 months since my last appointment.  Because I use a Sonicare (shout out!) I think I don’t have to floss.  It’s not true, but I dedicate so much time to brushing, I don’t want to take the extra 30 seconds to floss.  I don’t like wrapping the floss around my fingers (I never know how much to take) I don’t like putting my fingers in my mouth, and I don’t like opening my mouth that wide to accommodate my fingers.  So there.  I know I’ll get scolded.

  • I’m diligently plugging away at the quilting of the grandmother’s flower garden quilt.  It’s taking a long time – it’s a big quilt, but I’ll be done soon.  Then I’ll start binding it using a knife edge or self-binding technique which I’ve never done, so another adventure will begin.  I’ll blog about it, I’m sure.

  • My dearest and I are going with friends and a few family members to a concert in Omaha Saturday night.  Okkervil River.  I’m so excited.  We’ve only been into their music for about a year or so and this is the first opportunity we’ve had to see them live.  Here’s a video if anyone is interested.
