A couple of weeks ago, Josh and I went to Omaha and saw Okkervil River in concert for the first time after being fans of the band for about a year. For Josh’s birthday last week, his mom gave him a coupon to watch the kids in October so that we can go to Chicago [...] Last Saturday – this is untimely, I know – we rocked the community room of the library in town with a few mad games of Bingo! And yes, an exclamation point must always follow Bingo! See? Can’t help it. Our friends Phillippe and Amanda hosted the event, which was complete with popcorn and other snacks, [...] Last Saturday we finished our landscaping project I had written about a few weeks ago. We put one of those weed tarp things over the newly weeded ground and then added lots and lots and lots of river rock. Eighty-five 50-lb. bags to be exact. Josh borrowed his dad’s pickup to get the first [...] You’re pretty much the coolest guy I’ve ever met. You’re the funniest, and I’m glad that not everyone knows that about you. Most of the time, I’m your only audience, and I love it. Your wit is unmatched – sometimes it even takes me a minute to catch up. You were out there for [...] Last week when I took a picture of Jett in his sling, I was reminded of taking Halloween photos in the same spot last year. I gasped when I saw these photos side by side. The first picture was less than 11 months ago!
Holy smokes! Using the picture frame above [...] Is anyone really surprised by this photo? I for one am not. What does surprise me, however, is in the manner in which it happened. Let me start from the beginning of yesterday’s saga… Jett and I picked Jude up from preschool. Jett always loves to run back to the preschool room to [...] Earlier this week – yet again – Jett began experiencing some nasal discomfort. His eyes would water, he constantly had a finger up one nostril. Finally, I asked him what was up there. "Apple," he said. We have a sack of apples on the countertop in the kitchen, but I certainly hadn’t given him one. [...] Not that today they are here to stay… that’s just my round-about, goofy way of saying that yesterday was a good day. The kids behaved all day! Amazing! Yet again, Jude had a better report at preschool and it seems like his behavior is improving each and every time he goes. Yesterday Jett and [...] I had the best weekend with Josh. He had to work Saturday, but afterwards we went to a concert in Omaha with his cousin and his cousin’s wife. We had such a wonderful time. Really. The car ride went quickly, our hotel was very nice and comfortable (thanks, Priceline) and close to the concert [...] Another day of preschool came and went yesterday. The good news: Jude is improving every day. That’s the positive news to which I’m clinging. The preschool teacher downgraded the fits to outbursts.
