The big screen

A little over a week ago, Josh and I – along with my dad, Dylan, Jacob & Morgan – took Jude to his first movie.  We saw Wall.e.  Jude was ready for it.  He sat attentive every single moment from the previews to the ending credits.  We all enjoyed the movie, but it was also fun to watch Jude react to what was happening on the big screen.

Beforehand, the only question I had about his readiness to sit in a theater was because of his fear of loud noises.  Sure enough, the first really loud noise happened during the previews and he covered his ears.  Then he realized he couldn’t hear as well, so when a noise surprised him again, he clasped his hands to the sides of his face (think Home Alone) and that seemed to work well for him for the rest of the movie.

One part of the movie Jude got so excited and he turned and said “Jett!” and looked around and remembered his brother wasn’t there.  It was sweet how naturally he wanted to share the moment with Jett and just assumed he was there with us, like he always is.  For a split second I wished we would have brought Jett, but I then I came back to my senses.  Jett will get his first movie theater experience next summer and maybe that will be something we can all do as a family.

Here’s a picture of Jude while we were still in the theater – everyone else was clearing out and Jude was still watching the credits.
