Time for another installment of Loose Threads!
- Remember our friends Ali & Troy who are expecting twins? Well, Ali has a friend who is an ultrasound technician – good kind of friend to have when you’re pregnant, right? – who asked if she wanted to take some pictures of her babies last Friday night. Of course Ali said YES! and they went to the hospital to have a private viewing, if you will. They found out that the B in Baby B indeed stands for boy! And the tech said that she thinks Baby A is also a boy but because of his(?) position, they couldn’t be 100% sure, as with Baby B who bared all! More boys?! Can you believe it? Seems like everyone I know has boys! Now for the name selections, which Ali agrees with me, is soooo much more difficult for boys than for girls.
- I have an operational clothes dryer! After waiting over 2 weeks to get someone here to fix it, it’s fixed! Do you know how many clothes two little boys go through in 2 weeks? Luckily, my in-laws are the best and they helped us wash and dry MANY, MANY loads over the last couple of weeks.
- The boys broke our computer printer by ripping the encoding strip out of the ink cartridge carriage. Not as messy as you might think – but we were told by a couple of computer techs that we’d be better off buying a new printer than having the “highly calibrated” part repaired. Luckily, Dell’s new version of our old printer was on sale for $49. Nice. Should be here within a few days – critical because of this project I’m working on. Need a printer to print the photo transfers!
- What else? Oh yeah, yesterday morning we discovered that our Direct TV receiver (+ DVR) wasn’t working. Can’t blame that one on the boys. We enjoyed a Japanese game show (Unbeatable Banzuke on the G4 channel) on Monday night, shut the tv off, went to bed and by morning it had stopped working. Called the technical assistance line last night, the representative said that the units usually don’t go bad, but ours did, and will send us another one, but we have to pay $20 in shipping and renew our service contract. Urgh. And we lost all of the shows we had recorded on the DVR. Double Urgh. Do you know how many quilting shows I had saved on that stupid thing? I know, poor us, right? I feel blessed for having a roof over our heads much less for the privilege of having satellite tv! I should be slapped for even mentioning it. :)
- I upgraded my quilting software from Electric Quilt 5 to EQ6. I love it – wish I would have done it sooner. I’m coming up with new designs – one of which is very modern, so if I get the nod from my art director (my sister Emily) I may share it… sometime.
- Posts to look for soon: an update (for better or worse, right?) on our family budgeting, a special quilt project that I finished but can’t take any credit for. Intrigued? Stay tuned!
Have a great day everyone! The 4th of July weekend is almost here!

Jesse, Thanks for a little info on a lot of stuff, our computer needs a part, a router, we switched from Quest to Mediacom bundled everything and when the mediacom guy left he said everything works great, I said, the internet is already to go, “YUP” and he and John preceded to talk about golf for like 45 minutes and then he left. Went down later, no internet, called and it need a $40 router, no idea what that is only that I have to go to Radio Shack to get one, and haven’t gotten around to doing it, have been going to library to read emails and blogs, oh well, the girls think they are dying. Of course, I gave them the speel about when I was a kid and we didn’t even have VCRs or cable tv, just 3 channels, etc, etc and they should feel lucky for what they have on and on, boy did I get the eye rolls on that little speech. Anyway, wouldn’t it be a great world if everything worked all the time!!!! Take care, come over on the 4th if you can!!! Barb
