Last weekend Jett and I met my sister and mom in downtown Des Moines for the Des Moines Art Festival. I love it. We try to go every year – I don’t know how many years in a row we’ve been now. Something always inspires me there. A particular art piece or a whole artist’s collection. This year it was this artist‘s work.
We also watched live music, let Jett play in the water, and had lunch. Jett fell asleep before we caught the free shuttle to the fairgrounds for the Art Fest Midwest show in the Varied Industries building. After fighting the crowds downtown and putting up with whatever the weather throws at you, it’s nice to stroll indoors to look at the art in climate-controlled comfort. My friend Teena Case was at the show. Her work is awesome! She incorporates found fabric and paper into her paintings. Check her out online: www.teenacase.com.
Here are some pictures from the day. Thanks for bringing your camera along, Em.
Good thing I brought a change of clothes, the water was too tempting!
School bus ride.
