Last night Dad invited us to meet him in Des Moines at Crazy Horse Guitars (by Drake) to celebrate/witness the purchase of his new guitar.
Josh was too pooped to go – returning to work after a week off and little sleep the night before – he decided to stay home. I know better than bringing both little boys to a guitar shop, so I just took Jude. He can follow instructions – namely “NO!” – better than Jett at this stage. Once inside, he ran from place to place exclaiming his discovery of all the “va-ga-tars”. Sometimes with a fourth imagined syllable thrown in for good measure. He desperately wanted to play with all the little guitars.
My brother and sister also came. A new guitar in the family is always worthy of celebration. We went to the Drake Diner afterwards – I had coffee and a killer raspberry milkshake. Jude got a scoop of chocolate ice cream. He did so well the whole time.
Uncle Jacob demonstrating the look-what-I-found-in-your-ear trick that we’re hoping Jude won’t try on Jett.
