Last night I got to have dinner with a couple of my favorite ladies! We tried Maverick’s a new Des Moines (Urbandale) eatery. Food was good, friends were better.
One highlight of the night: Holly (whose 30th birthday bash I blogged about here) told of her ordeal last weekend as she was stopped for drunk driving. I guess I should put this in context: Holly hasn’t had a drop of alcohol since she was 18. She was in a town she hadn’t been to in a long while and unsure of exactly where she was supposed to go. The policeman told her she was weaving between lanes and crossing the center line. So she was given a field sobriety test, which she thought was hilarious but wasn’t trying to let the cop know how funny she thought it was. She warned him that she had bad balance. Sure enough, she failed the field sobriety test! The breathalyzer that the police officers had was broken and they didn’t have a back-up. Since the officer administering the test could not smell any alcohol on her breath, she was allowed to go, but not without a funny story. A perfect Holly story.
Cheri is doing well. Her last race was the Dam to Dam a little over three weeks ago. She’s still kicking butt in the gym and taking names… and looking great doing it. Her friends are hopeful and excited at the prospect of a new relationship budding from a long-term friendship and hoping that everything works out. We all love Cheri and want her to be gloriously happy.

Love it!
