I had a great Mother’s Day. The only thing that would have made it better was to have actually seen my mom, but she’s coming to visit later this week, so that will have to do.
We went to church in the morning. Jude made me a craft in children’s church, and then refused to give it to me. When I told him it was mother’s day, he said – “No! It’s Jude day!”
Josh told me he’d make – or buy – anything I wanted for lunch. I requested french toast and scrambled eggs, not because they’re easy to make – but because really Josh makes them well (he’d say better than me). He did a great job, as I expected. And he also cleaned up the kitchen when he was done! Nice!
We put the kids down for a nap. Jude asked if I would rock him to sleep. I was anxious to do some quilting when they were sleeping, but what mother on the day for mothers could resist that request? Of course I rocked him to sleep – and then nodded off in the process. After more than a half hour and lots of internal debate about whether to get up and get busy or lay down with him and really go for the nap, I placed him in his crib and got busy sewing. Jett fell asleep with Josh in bed for a power nap. Josh was joking last night that even though Jett is the king of fake-snoring, he snores a lot louder when it’s for real.
We had plans out at Jan & Doug’s house at 5 pm, and we actually had to drag the kids out of bed to go. We had such a good time there. The kids got to run and run and play. We had a great meal and then more playing outside.
My kids are so blessed. They have parents who were raised by wonderful mothers, who were raised by wonderful mothers, who were raised by wonderful mothers and on and on. What a worthwhile thing to reflect upon and celebrate the second Sunday of each May.

Awesome pics Jess!
Looks like Grandpa Doug made a purchase! How fun for the boys! Great blogging & pictures. Grandma Bev just called to say that Anna went to the hospital this a.m. as her water broke!
I agree with Em, awesome pictures. We missed all of the kids yesterday, but had lots of fun with the Wii, Dylan is becoming a pro at bowling, he will challenge anyone, and beat them. Even got Grandpa Bob and Chuck trying their hands at it.
