Well, my new camera is here! It came Friday afternoon, just in time for our big weekend. It was good for me to practice. I took 217 pictures over the weekend. That’s a start!
I agonized over the purchase of this camera! I don’t buy cameras very often and I wanted to choose one that I would love for years to come. There are so many choices out there.
At first I wanted to go with a basic point and shoot camera. Then I considered the SLR route. It’s important my camera will be able to pick up the details of my quilt photos. That’s one area I’m extremely lacking. The pictures of my quilts never look as good as real life. I want to be able to see the quilting stitches. I want to be able to see the texture in the photos. If there is a stray thread hanging off the quilt, I want to see it!
I should also mention that I am very inexperienced when it comes to photography. My camera came highly rated for someone using an SLR for the first time. That’s me! So far, I haven’t found a reason to not love this camera. Maybe I’ll notice something quirky in the design that I don’t like the more I learn about it. From the perspective of a lay person, I find this camera very easy to use. I also like the editing software that came with it.
Here are a few of my favorite shots.

I love this centerpiece, my dad has made a series of them out of scrap steel that he welds together. He’s also made candle holders.
Jude making a very intimidating gesture. Side note: the arm bands might be the new cape.
Jett
My grandma showing Jett how to grind the coffee beans, she didn’t think he’d taste them.

The beautiful but dying roses Dad gave Mom for her birthday (on Valentine’s Day).
