July 9th, 2008 | by Jessie | Progress on Lovebirds (Circle gets the Square):
I finished piecing the entire top last night. I had to stay up until 12:30 am to do it, but sometimes you just can’t quit when you’re on a roll!
I used a variety of fabrics that contained red, black and white. Funny, I liked the boldness [...]
July 8th, 2008 | by Jessie | Here’s the story about the quilt that I finished but can’t take credit for:
It was May and I was finishing the Boy with a Coin quilt for a customer. Let me take you back even more… whenever I design a quilt, the first thing I do after I have the design is calculate how [...]
July 3rd, 2008 | by Jessie | comments closed I’m more excited about my modern quilt design now that my sister likes it. So, here it is:
Doesn’t look like me, huh? Simplistic, retro, high style, funky. I’m digging the bird silhouettes – they will be appliquéd onto a white background. I’ve been seeing birds pop up in art & decor recently: at [...]
May 14th, 2008 | by Jessie | I thought I’d post a picture of a quilt that was pieced by my friend Rozetta Fiscus – I did only the quilting on it. She did such a good job with it. At our Quilt Circle of Friends meeting, held at Adel Quilting and Dry Goods, Co., all who wanted to participate in a [...]
May 6th, 2008 | by Jessie | I just finished another baby quilt for a neighbor family who welcomed a new baby girl several weeks ago.
I had bought a lot of cute “girl” fabric lately and I wanted to incorporate it into this quilt. I also didn’t want to cut the fabric up too much, so I just started slicing [...]
May 1st, 2008 | by Jessie | Here is the quilt I made for my friend Anna’s baby girl, who is due a week from tomorrow, although my baby shower prediction was that she’d deliver on the 12th of May. Prove me wrong, Anna. Prove me wrong.
The quilt has 4 appliquéd tulips surrounded by 9-patches, all set on-point. I thought the [...]
April 21st, 2008 | by Jessie | I recently finished a customer quilt repair. A gentleman contacted me about repairing a quilt belonging to his fiancée. The quilt contained pieces of her grandmother’s clothing. Her grandmother died when this woman was a very young girl, so these scraps of her clothing are very sentimental to her.
This quilt had been well-loved. In [...]
April 16th, 2008 | by Jessie | Yes, we have a title. Spring Succeeds is a song by Olivia Tremor Control, and yes, it’s on our ipod. I have to admit it’s not a familiar song to me, but I love the title and it’s very fitting for this quilt. Thanks, Josh. What a long winter and a slow start to spring [...]
April 14th, 2008 | by Jessie | Welp, the weekend was good… no, great. Mom took the kids on Friday afternoon. Need I say more?
Friday we had a friend over for dinner; he and Josh stayed home and hung out while my friend Barb and I went out for coffee and talked. It was fun a lot of fun.
Saturday we [...]
April 4th, 2008 | by Jessie | Sorry for the late posting, everyone. I hope I didn’t worry anyone (besides Mom). I had a rare opportunity this morning to quilt. So instead of writing about it, I got busy!
This is what happened when I tried to photograph the quilt while the kids were still awake.
Yeah, it [...]
