I had the pleasure of meeting baby Owen for the first time last night. He’s so adorable! Owen and his family are doing very well.
Here’s the proud mommy and her precious babe:
Look at that hair!
I’ve started asking expectant moms for input as I design a baby quilt for their child. A direction for themes or colors helps me greatly. Jackie wanted deeper colors of blue and red along with khaki centered around the nautical theme in his nursery.
I started looking for fabric online and found a perfect fabric line called The Hamptons by Polly Minick and Laurie Simpson for Moda fabrics. In this case, the fabrics really got my creative juices flowing!
Here’s what I ended up with:
As for the quilting, I’m on a stippling/meandering tear and have finished the last several quilts with the same overall pattern. It’s the fastest and easiest, and I do like the results. Non-quilters seem impressed with it, as well. The next time I give myself more time to finish a quilt, I’m going to challenge myself not to do the easiest thing. I’m not beating myself up about it… I’ve done 5 quilts in 8 days!
Have a happy weekend, everyone! I can’t wait for tomorrow’s baby shower for my friend Ali who is expecting twins (girls!) in December. More on that next week…

Wow! I love it. What a fantastic boy baby quilt. All of our best to the new mom and son. Thanks
Laurie

Jessie, That is so great, I’m sure they loved it. What a cute little man, I love babies with hair, they are so cute. Great job with the quilts, you are a super quilter, definately your gift and such a blessing to those who receive them. Talk to you later, Barb
