That’s the name of my most recent quilt. It was commissioned by a customer for whom I made a baby girl quilt earlier this year. My customer chose the same pattern but wanted a similar color scheme to another quilt in the gallery of my web site (Single Block – Boy). The original quilt was a pattern I designed honoring the birth of a very special family member – that quilt is here.
I’ve mentioned before how I use EQ 5 software to design a quilt. Here’s the computer drafted quilt:
And here’s the actual finished quilt:
Obviously the finished quilt looks much nicer without the harsh block outlines, but overall the draft is a great preview for color placement and overall design.
Here are a few close-ups of the quilt. The fabric is from the “Oh Baby!” line by Moda from a couple of years ago.
As you can see, at the customer’s request, I embroidered the child’s name into the inner border along the bottom of the quilt.
Have I mentioned I love Superior Threads?! I used So Fine! in the top and The Bottom Line in the bobbin for quilting an overall meandering pattern.
Boy with a Coin is from the latest Iron & Wine album. Such a good song… with a cool music video, too. Listen and watch.
