Anniversary photo quilt

I was hired to design and make an anniversary quilt for a couple marking their 50th wedding anniversary, which was in April, but they are celebrating it with a reception next month.

Can you tell I love stars?  It was strategic, there are 50 stars on this quilt, one for every year of wedded bliss.  Each star has at least one (some have four) photos in the center.  The center double star is the couple on their wedding day.  They had four children; the kids’ baby photos surround the center star.  Each of their children and their families (each had two children) have a corner.  The rest of the stars feature pictures of the couple, group family photos, weddings, all the important milestones.  One of the suggestions of the couple (they know the quilt is coming) was a red and blue theme.  I’m really excited to get going on it.  I selected the blue fabric and the backing fabric last night.  The quilt will finish at 56″ square.

Did I mention this is my first photo transfer quilt?  I’ll have to keep you posted on products, tips, & techniques as I learn them!
