I’m working on quilt for a woman who is expecting her baby granddaughter in less than a month. From my website, she selected the “Grace” pattern pictured above. I found the cutest fabrics for her quilt last weekend; I’m in the planning stages now.
Before I make any quilt, I draft it using my Electric Quilt software (I have EQ5… there’s a newer version on the market now). I usually make my own notes before I start cutting: how much fabric I’ll need, the strip sizes to cut and number of units I’ll need, etc.. During the planning of this current quilt, I am being more thorough in my note taking for the purposes of publishing it as a pattern soon. Hopefully this year. It’s a pattern I’ve wanted to write for awhile, and since my customer selected this particular pattern, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to take a little extra time and write it out. There are at least two other patterns I hope to write this year as well. I’ll share those at a later time.
I want my patterns to be very easy to follow. I hope that any beginning quilter with basic rotary cutting skills & the ability to sew a 1/4″ seam would be successful putting this and any pattern of mine together.
